Ashley Giordano
Ashley Giordano is an overlander, writer, editor, and expedition storyteller best known as the co-founder of Desk to Glory, one of the most influential adventure travel platforms in modern overlanding culture. Alongside her husband Richard, Ashley gained international recognition after leaving behind conventional corporate life in Vancouver, British Columbia, to complete a 48,800-kilometer overland journey from Canada to Argentina in a vintage Toyota pickup. Their travels through 15 countries helped inspire a new generation of overlanders by demonstrating that meaningful long-distance exploration could be achieved through simplicity, adaptability, and intentional travel.
Known for her thoughtful writing and deeply personal storytelling style, Ashley has become an influential voice within the overland and expedition travel media space. Her work focuses not only on vehicles and destinations, but also on the cultural, emotional, and human dimensions of long-term travel. Through Desk to Glory, she has helped redefine overlanding as a lifestyle rooted in curiosity, resilience, and connection rather than purely equipment-driven adventure.
Ashley has also built a respected career in adventure journalism and expedition media. She has contributed extensively to Overland Journal and Expedition Portal, served as a senior editor for Overland Journal, and worked alongside Expedition Overland on major international productions and expeditions. Her field experience spans remote travel throughout the Americas, the Arctic, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia, including travel along portions of the Silk Road and the Pamir Highway.
In addition to her editorial and expedition work, Ashley is recognized for advocating greater representation and inclusivity within the overlanding community. As a co-founder of Women Overlanding the World, she has helped elevate the voices and experiences of women in expedition travel while encouraging a more accessible and community-oriented approach to adventure.
Whether navigating remote African routes for Expedition Overland productions, researching historic trade routes across Central Asia, or documenting life on the road through film and writing, Ashley Giordano continues to shape the modern overlanding movement through authentic storytelling, cultural curiosity, and a deeply grounded approach to exploration.
