OVERVIEW

The Social Media Manager will own the day-to-day management, strategy, content planning, publishing, and reporting across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and emerging platforms for Overland Collective and its individual brands. This role is equal parts strategist, storyteller, analyst, and community builder.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media Strategy & Management

  • Lead the social media strategy for Overland Collective and all brands under the umbrella.
  • Manage daily publishing, scheduling, and content flow across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and more.
  • Develop iterative frameworks to test content themes, formats, tones, and storytelling approaches.
  • Translate long-form editorial, documentary, and cinematic content into compelling short-form, social-first assets.

Content Creation, Curation & Brand Voice

  • Maintain and evolve brand voice and tone across multiple properties and audiences.
  • Write high-performing social copy tailored to each platform.
  • Curate and source content from internal creative teams and servers, external ambassadors, partners, and creators.
  • (Bonus) Ability to edit social-first assets using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or mobile editing apps.
  • (Bonus bonus) Ability to shoot photos and short-form video for ad hoc content and capitalizing on trends.

Community Growth & Engagement

  • Actively monitor, engage, and build relationships with the Overlanding and outdoor communities.
  • Manage audience interactions, comments, DMs, and community-driven conversations.
  • Identify opportunities to activate ambassadors, affiliate partners, and creators.

Tools & Platforms

  • Use social publishing, listening, and analytics platforms (Hootsuite, Later, Buffer, Dash, etc.) to manage workflows.
  • Keep a pulse on social, content, influencer, and outdoor/overlanding industry trends.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Creative, Sales, Operations, and Editorial teams.

Reporting & Insights

  • Own all social reporting for internal stakeholders and external brand partners.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and next-step recommendations.
  • Present insights clearly and cross-functionally to inform content strategy and creative direction.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–5+ years experience in social media management, ideally within outdoor, lifestyle, media, or creator-driven brands.
  • Strong copywriting and storytelling skills with a deep understanding of platform nuances.
  • Experience with publishing/monitoring tools (Hootsuite, Later, Buffer, Dash, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of social-first content and community dynamics.
  • Experience collaborating with creatives, producers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with ambassador, affiliate, or creator networks.
  • (Bonus) Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Canva, CapCut, or mobile editing tools.
