Kurt Williams
Kurt Williams is a widely respected figure in the overlanding and off-road community, best known as the owner of Cruiser Outfitters, one of the premier Toyota Land Cruiser parts and expedition outfitters in the United States. A lifelong Land Cruiser enthusiast, Kurt began building his first 1968 FJ40 at the age of 15 and later earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah with a focus on automotive design and fabrication.
Under Kurt’s leadership, Cruiser Outfitters became a major force in the Land Cruiser and overland industry, recognized for its technical expertise, trail-tested products, and commitment to the off-road community. Beyond business, Kurt has built a reputation through decades of hands-on adventure travel, international expeditions, and professional off-road competition. He has competed in events including the Baja 1000, UROC, Old School Rock Crawl, Mint 400, and Vegas to Reno, while also traveling extensively through remote regions around the world with organizations such as Expedition Overland and Expeditions 7.
Kurt is also recognized for his leadership and advocacy work within the four-wheel-drive community. He previously served as president of the Utah 4 Wheel Drive Association and has been actively involved with organizations promoting responsible recreation, trail stewardship, and OHV access. As a certified Tread Lightly! Master Trainer and professional off-road instructor, he has helped educate and mentor countless enthusiasts in safe and sustainable backcountry travel.
Known for his technical knowledge, practical experience, and approachable personality, Kurt continues to influence the modern overlanding movement through expedition leadership, vehicle development, community events, and education. Whether leading trail repair crews in Utah’s mountains, consulting on expedition vehicle builds, or navigating remote terrain abroad, he remains a trusted voice in the global Land Cruiser and overland communities.
